Fleet Parish Council
Extraordinary Meeting – Tuesday 13th August 2024
An Extraordinary meeting of Fleet Parish Council took place on the Fleet Playing Field, Old Main Road Fleet Hargate on Tuesday 13th August 2024, which was attended by 2 members of the public and the following Councillors: Paul Barnes, Kevin Smith, Charles Penney. Ashlie Smith & the Clerk.
Public Forum – Nothing was raised by the Public
Due to the nature of the extra meeting, no reports were received from the LCC or District Cllrs. Cllr Barnes mores straight to the Agenda.
24.08.56 Apologies for Absence - Cllr N Pickett & Cllr E Penney. Reasons given were noted and accepted by all.
24.08.57 To receive any declarations of interest in accordance with the requirements of the Localism Act 2011 and to consider any requests for dispensations in respects of pecuniary or non-pecuniary interests in Agenda items. – None
It was RESOLVED we move to discuss item 4 on the agenda to conclude, then revisit item 3 after. This was agreed by all.
24.08.58 Memorial Garden Fence – Cllr Barnes reported that quotes had been obtained for repairs to the fence, costing in the region of £3,000. But, continued to advise that following on from our email to the house owner next door. They have confirmed that they own the fence and would investigate carrying out some repairs. It was RESOLVED that should we not hear any further and no repairs are carried out by the next Parish Council meeting, we will carry out emergency repairs on our side of the fence to avoid any injuries to Parishioners using the War Memorial Garden.
24.08.59 Proposed Car Park/Hard Standing and Pathway - Cllr Barnes was pleased to report that Fleet Parish Council has been awarded a Grant from the UKSPF for the sum of £25,000. He gave thanks to Cllr A Smith for her hard work and efforts in successfully obtaining this grant. Due to the nature and conditions of the grant, funds need to be utilised for assisting inclusive access to the park and playing field. Therefore, Cllr Barnes proposed we extend the existing path to gain access to the park and gym equipment and incorporate a small disabled parking area. He shared a map and diagrams of the proposed area and extended path. Following a review of the area, it was RESOLVED that full council we happy with this proposal and to obtain Tenders for extending the existing path and installation of a disabled parking area at Old Main Road end of the playing field.
